About

We bridge two construction economies that have been working together for forty years

Sonora BIM exists because the math finally caught up with the geography.

For decades, U.S. construction firms have known about the depth of engineering talent in northern Mexico. Ford has built engines in Hermosillo since 1986. Boeing, Caterpillar, and the entire automotive supply chain have run engineering operations across Sonora for a generation. The talent base is real, the standards are deep, and the proximity to the U.S. market is unmatched.

What was missing — until recently — was a service firm built specifically to apply that capability to the U.S. construction sector. Most U.S. fabricators and contractors that wanted offshore-style cost savings on detailing ended up with offshore-style headaches: 12-hour offsets, language overhead, code translation friction, and rework rates that erased the savings.

Sonora BIM was built to close that gap. We are a senior-led nearshore engineering services firm headquartered in Hermosillo, the administrative and engineering capital of Sonora, with a physical office staffed by licensed architects and engineers. We deliver steel detailing, Tekla modeling, Revit drafting, and 3D rendering to U.S. construction clients — operating entirely within U.S. business hours and to U.S. code references.

How we work

The model is simple: you send us the requirements — drawings, specs, a brief, a model file — and we send you the deliverable on a fixed scope and a fixed timeline. Every engagement begins with a discovery call. Twenty to thirty minutes is usually enough to confirm scope, identify the real risks, and produce a quote within forty-eight hours. We do not run sales sequences, send long proposals, or theatrically negotiate. We send a real number, a real schedule, and a named team. You decide.

Once a project is live, our project leads run point on communication, resolve RFIs same-day, and maintain transparent status with weekly check-ins. Every deliverable goes through internal QC before it reaches you. Two revision rounds are included by default. Most projects close out within the included revisions because we resolve ambiguity during detailing, not after.

What we believe

The cheapest hourly rate is rarely the cheapest project. Communication quality is a cost driver, not a soft skill. Time zone alignment matters more than people expect. AISC literacy cannot be acquired in three weeks. And the partner that closes a project on time and on budget is more valuable than the partner that closes it cheap and late.

We built Sonora BIM to be that first kind of partner.

What guides our work

Three principles we will not compromise on

01

Communicate before you cut

Every ambiguity is resolved before the steel is cut, the model is published, or the drawing is submitted. Same-day RFIs, transparent weekly status, and a project lead who picks up the phone.

02

Quote what you can deliver

We do not theatrically underbid to win work and then explain delays later. The number we send is the number we hold. The schedule we commit to is the schedule we hit.

03

Treat every project like a relationship

We are not interested in transactional engagements. The clients that matter to us start with one project and grow into multi-year partnerships because the work and the working relationship both deserve it.

"The best detailer for your project is the one that produces the lowest total cost — not the lowest hourly rate."

— Our operating principle

Send your scope. We respond within 24 to 48 hours.

No commitment. No sales sequence. Real numbers from a senior team that has shipped this work before.
